Sebastian Velez is a first generation undergraduate student in the College of Engineering. He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and is a junior studying computer engineering. Mr. Velez is a McNair Scholar, IES Pathways fellow and a UTSA math/science tutor. His experience in tutoring math courses and his passion for mathematics help him develop an interest in mathematics education research. Understanding the underlying differences that hinder students from understanding math and effective ways to teach mathematics is his specific research interest.
