Beatriz Galarza-Tohen, MSE, MSM

Beatriz Galarza is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching with a focus on STEM Education. Currently serving as a Graduate Research Assistant, she is actively involved in the IES Pathways program, which is generously funded by the Department of Education. Beatriz also contributes to the NSF-funded C-SPECC Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing grant, explicitly focusing on the education component. Her research centers on Computational Thinking, Model Eliciting Activities, and Situated Expectancy Value Theory, with a particular interest in unraveling the factors that influence women’s participation in STEM fields. Utilizing Epistemic Network Analysis as her methodology, Beatriz examines co-occurrences of conversation patterns in discourse analysis.
