Kayli Stidham is a biology major at University of Texas San Antonio and an IES Pathways Fellow. Through the IES P20 Pathways Program, she is doing research in the form of a literature review that focuses on the effects of prolonged and excessive caffeine use on the learning of students, as well as ways to minimize the negative impacts of abusing this chemical. Blending her passions for biological research and the well being of students, she is investigating caffeine’s effect on each stage of learning– acquisition, consolidation, storage, and retrieval of information, to better understand the ways that our daily habits can alter one’s academic and mental performance.
