MARIA MOYA

I’m Maria Moya, a third-year, first-generation student at UTSA pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I’m originally from Argentina where I developed my interest in education. My first job as a babysitter opened my eyes to the challenges kids face in school, especially with reading, writing—issues that often intersect with learning disabilities like dyslexia. I’m part of the IES Pathway which is supported by the US department of education with the main goal of preparing undergrad students to pursue a Phd program. As a fellow of this program, my goal is to dive deeper into understanding learning disabilities and their impact on English language learners, ultimately working to create more inclusive and effective educational practices
