SOFIA HERNANDEZ
Sofia Hernandez is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. As a member of the Honors College and an IES Pathways Fellow, Sofia demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence in her field.
Currently engaged in research under the mentorship of Dr. Joel Alejandro Mejia, Sofia focuses on engineering education, particularly examining the impact of marginalized standards on aspiring Laino/a/x engineers. Her work delves into the intersection of culture, identity, and professional development, shedding light on crucial issues within the engineering community.
She is passionate about human centered computing, recognizing its potential to create inclusive and impactful technological solutions. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, she intends to apply to graduate school, where she will focus on human centered computing/human computer interaction. With this focus, she aims to deepen her understanding of how technology can better serve diverse communities and contribute to the advancement of user-friendly and accessible innovations.
