ERIKA MONZON

My name is Erika Monzon. I am a proud first-generation Mexican American in the College of Science and the College of Health, Community, and Policy studying Neuroscience and Psychology. I am a part of the Honors College, an IES pathways fellow, and I am a research assistant in The Wicha Lab at UTSA. Dr. Wicha, Dr. Grenier, myself, and others involved are investigating how the human brain processes language using behavioral and brain imaging techniques. We are wanting to determine if there are developmental shifts in neurocognitive processes between children and adults when retrieving learned arithmetic (math) facts to improve early math education. I hope to further my education by pursuing a Doctorate degree in Neuropsychology and doing research in Cognition, Brain, and Behavior.
